An ancient island with a living heritage
Sardinia is an ancient land with a history stretching back thousands of years. The Nuragic people left behind the island’s famous stone towers, while Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Greeks and Romans all shaped its story.
Its strategic position in the Mediterranean also made it vulnerable to pirates and invaders, which helped push communities inland and preserved many of the island’s distinctive traditions.
